Nagpur is popularly known as 'Orange City of India' due to extensive cultivation of Nagpur mandarin (Santra) in this region which has received Gl tag of 'Nagpur Orange' and has become a global trademark. Apart from citrus, other important crops in this region include cotton, soybean, banana etc. Nagpur is one of fastest growing metropolises in India and third largest city as well as the winter capital of the state of Maharashtra. It is the most developed city in the region of Vidarbha and also called the 'Tiger Capital of India' or the 'Tiger Gateway of India' as many tiger reserves are located in and around the city.
Nagpur, located on the eastern part of Maharashtra state, also has a rich history which can be traced back to 8th century BCE. The city has completed 320 years of establishment in the year 2022. The city is well connected by roads, railways and air flights with all the major cities of India. Since ages, it has been a city of cultural and political importance. Nagpur lies precisely at the center of the country with the 'Zero Mile Marker' indicating the geographical center of India.
